the good for the better

So I've been reading David Platt's book Radical on the recommendation of a friend and I've been kind of stuck on this one idea. The Christianity that most people see here in America is this idea that you have to give up stuff in this life so you don't go to hell; do good and you won't go to hell, oh yeah and Jesus makes up where you mess up. But the truth of the Gospel is like you have a McDonald's Happy Meal in front of you and someone coming up and saying 'hey I've got a steak dinner for you if you want it instead.' I was listening to this song called Dancing in the Mine Fields and it has this verse that says " 'I do' are the two most famous last words; the beginning of the end. But to lose your life for another I've heard is a good place to begin."  married is the end of two separate lives but the beginning of a beautiful new life together and that's just such a picture to me of having a relationship with God and being a christian is.

"The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field." - Matthew 13:44
